PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE
Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes
knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the
universe. Science is the study and understanding of natural phenomena.
Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental questions, such as those
about existence, reason, knowledge, values, mind, and language. Philosophy is the
study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence. It
provides a guiding principle for behavior or governance. The main functions and
actions of philosophy are to think, to reason, to provide a structure to
thinking, to provide structure to reasoning, and to evaluate reasoning. The
main branches, which means areas of philosophy, are Epistemology, Logic,
Ethics, Aesthetics, and Metaphysics. Epistemology is the branch of philosophy
concerned with knowledge. Epistemologists study the nature, origin, and scope
of knowledge, epistemic justification, the rationality of belief, and various
related issues. Logic is concerned to provide sound methods for distinguishing
good from bad reasoning. Ethics takes up the meanings of our moral concepts.
Metaphysics seeks basic criteria for determining what sorts of things are real
The real value of philosophy is hidden inside the term philosophy. The study of the philosophical itself is a practical task. Present days humans are more focused to think inside the framework. But with the study of philosophy, their thinking capabilities can be enhanced. Philosophy, like all other studies, aims primarily at knowledge. Knowledge is the kind of knowledge that gives unity and system to the body of the sciences and the kind which results from a critical examination of the grounds of our convictions, prejudices, and beliefs. Philosophy of science helps man to think in much broader aspects rather than looking into a particular side of the complex problem. It helps society in conflict resolutions. The philosophical study can be divided into physical science philosophy and mathematical principle philosophy. Physical science philosophy is concerned with describing and relating to one another those experiences of the surrounding world, these experiences are shared by different observers. Mathematical principles in philosophy is a broader aspect where the focus is to study the nature and methods of mathematics. Explore how people's life is handled through these mathematical concepts. These concepts are more likely to be logical and structural.
We need to have several skills to master philosophy. Analyzing the statements and the arguments is the first skill we need to have. We will be able to have competencies in understanding and developing the arguments and analyzing the statements. Secondly, we need to have skills related to imagining alternatives to familiar views and situations. The third crucial skill we need to have to master philosophy is stating things explicitly, clearly, and succinctly. The final skill is thinking creatively. We should have enough skills to think creatively and should be able to analyze the given situation creatively. If we master the philosophy study during our students' lives we will be able to develop these skills. Our creative thinking skills, analyzing and communication skills will be improved. These skills are essential in the current context due to the competitive nature of the job market. It will lead to academic and career success
Philosophy of science is a much broader subject matter. Everybody needs to study and understand this since it will enhance man's critical thinking capacity and provide solutions to every difficult problem of humans. The study of philosophical science will enhance personal, social, and intellectual growth.
